PETE DEMAGGIORED RIGHT HAND GUITARIST PETE DeMAGGIO GETS TO SHOW HIS OTHER SIDE ON ‘TO WHEREVER YOU ARE’
“’To Wherever You Are’ is a collection of songs I wrote from July '06-August '07,” explains DeMaggio. “All revolving around a common denominator - a woman. But it's really just an audio diary - I didn't set out to release an album, I just did it as therapy. The songs are all over the musical map. If you asked me what style of music it is, I'd ask you to listen to it and you tell me.” And when asked to compare his solo material to his work with Red Right Hand, DeMaggio offers a ‘scientific’ description. “It's like the Periodic Table of Elements of Music - Red Right Hand is more like straight up metal, drop-forged steel!” Listing such varied yet renowned artists as Kurt Cobain, King Diamond, Tool, and the Beatles as prime influences, the tracks on ‘To Wherever You Are’ certainly run the musical gamut, but DeMaggio has some set favorites. “My fav tracks and key lines include ‘Home to Me’ - it just has such a deep message, ‘Wherever you are, to me, is just like home.’ ‘Too Much’ – ‘Sometimes life just feels so lifeless...without you.’ ‘The Rest of Me’ – ‘I promise to break every promise I make.’ Every line of every song means something to me.” While it’s largely a one-man show on record, on stage, it’s another story, as DeMaggio has assembled ‘Pete DeMaggio & K.I.T.N.B.L.’ (which stands for ‘Kicked in the Nuts by Love’), which includes Ross Boyd on guitar and keys, Tim Koukos on bass, and Tom Holmes on drums. DeMaggio can barely contain his excitement when discussing the group’s upcoming shows in support of ‘To Wherever You Are.’ “Yes! I'm so excited. It's been coming together so well, we are really starting to gel as a band. We've done fairly well in the past five months or so. I'm hoping to step it up a couple of notches this fall.” For more information, visit: |
